Natures Corner
Hello Folks,
As the weather is still cold, there are now lots of birds feeding in the garden, but as yet, no babies coming in. although plenty of birds are flying off with beaks full of food (a good sign). I think it is good to now see many sparrows feeding, as not so long ago they were in decline and bird watchers were getting worried.
Just a few nights ago, when the security light came on, I looked out and in the garden, was the largest hedgehog I’ve ever seen. It looked as large as a rugby ball, and I’m amazed it could get into the feeding station.
So far this year I have seen more butterflies than all of last year, so I’m hoping we have a good year this year; everyone loves butterflies. I report all numbers and species to Butterfly Conservation Dorset (www.dorsetbutterflies.com), where all records are kept.
More soon

P.S. I hope to report on my next birding holiday in the next newsletter.
