On Saturday 26th September, the day dawned bright and sunny, just right for our very first Photography Exhibition. There was a marvellous turn out by you all, and nearly 80 people voted for the picture they liked the best. This was won by Edna Richardson and her photo of a wistful looking Yorkshire Terrier. We thank all of you who support us on the day and we ran out of bacon rolls and nearly all the cakes! We have now put all the photos on the wall in the main Hall for you look at in a more leisurely way.
A group of us gathered at the Hailey Centre on 10th October and at 10.00am left by mini-coach for the Constable Country just north of Colchester, marginally inside the Suffolk border. John Constable’s father owned most of the villages in the area and John himself was born in East Bergholt. Our tour started in Dedham, then on to Flatford Mill, the scene of his famous painting, The Haywain, and finally through his birthplace on our return to Sawbridgeworth late afternoon. Our thanks once again to the Town Council for their grant which made the trip possible. All the members who went have plenty of photographs to view.
New Members are always welcome at all levels, so if you, or someone you know, is interested in joining us please contact Sue in the office on 01279 721221.
One of our newsletter produces, Ted Noakes, took the front page photo while on holiday recently in Gran Canaria, one of the Canary Islands a few miles off the west coast of Africa.
